English as an Additional Language (ESOL / EFL)

English lessons are tailored to the individual learner's needs, interests and objectives - including academic, conversation, leisure, business and specific qualifications, such as:

All courses are taught using a wide range of up-to-date, authentic, interesting and relevant multi-modal resources, which are usually embedded within PowerPoints and that the learner can take away in order to reinforce their learning between lessons. Lessons can also be recorded.

​

Lessons are designed to be functional and communicative and focus on all four skills of speaking, listening, reading and writing. All exam courses are taught to the syllabus of the specific exam board; several exams are available through more than one exam board. Mock exams can be taken

Sharon also runs a very successful ESOL Programme for resettled refugees and provides Training and Consultancy Services to organisations and groups setting up their own ESOL programmes. She is featured on the website of RESET, the UK’s Community Sponsorship learning hub for supporting refugees, and she also spoken about the ESOL programme to the Institute for Research into Superdiversity (IRiS).

Whether English is your first language or an additional language and you need support with English for Academic Purposes, the Tutor, Sharon, has the expertise to help you improve your essay and dissertation writing skills. Sharon uses her background in Applied Linguistics (Master of Education with distinction) and extensive academic experience and success to provide students with excellent support.
